Pilates

Pilates is a form of strength training that empowers your body to improve alignment and rehabilitate, strengthen your core and muscles, and increase range of motion and flexibility. Like the other practices, Pilates can be accommodated to suit your needs and goals.

Pilates Options

  • Mat Pilates - minimal-to-no equipment needed. Your body weight and resistance is utilized for the exercises.

  • Reformer - using a sliding apparatus, the same moves as Mat Pilates can be done on the Reformer for added resistance and range of motion. It is furnished with straps for your hands and feet to use, a jump board, foot bar and has a variety of spring tensions that can be adjusted to your liking.

  • Cadillac - in addition to having the Reformer attached, the Cadillac is equipped with a full trapeze for additional movements as well as advanced exercises.

  • Springboard - the Springboard was created to replicate the movements from the Reformer. This space-saving equipment is anchored to a wall and has different springs to mimic the tension and options of a Reformer.

  • Pilates Chair - Another space-saving option, the Chair allows you to enhance your practice by adding a little elevation to your resistance.

  • Props - you can utilize all of these props in any format! Props may include: small ball, bosu, gondola pole, ring, resistance bands, barre, weights, etc.

Barre

Barre is a great exercise that incorporates traditional ballet elements to enhance your workout! Contrary to the name, you actually don’t need a barre! You can most of the exercises without the barre and still get the same great benefits. Props may also be added to your practice such as weights, balls, resistance bands, etc.

YOGALATES

This class is a fusion of Yogic practices and Pilates! Pilates was originally created in the 1920s to rehabilitate the body; with modern technologies and awareness, we now use Pilates to do just that as well as get a great workout in. It’s a great way to bring your physical structure back into alignment - especially if you have one side that tends to work harder than the other - and is a low-impact method of building strength and repairing the connective tissues. By blending Yogic practices into the mix, we are able to further concentrate on the mind-body connection, balance your strength and provide an inside-out journey. Each format is wonderful on its own, combining the two is just one way to compliment both practices and give you a fun, diverse sessions each time! This class is mat Pilates unless otherwise listed.
